Jon Heyman admitted he was wrong -- #mybad.
And what he said next really didn't make much sense. But if you ask me, he's saying "I'd like to still use Gallardo's agent as an inside source in the future." Who knows...
ORIGINAL PIECE -- April 23, 2016
In late February, the Orioles had agreed upon a three-year, $35 million deal with Yovani Gallardo, pending physical. As most of you know, the deal was put on hold due to the Orioles having concern over Gallardo's shoulder.
Before the deal got restructured to what the Orioles were comfortable with giving Gallardo, MLB Network reporter Jon Heyman bashed the Orioles for having a problem with the right-hander's shoulder following the physical examiation.
So, according to Heyman, just because Gallardo has never had a shoulder problem in the past, and that he's also thrown 180 innings in each of the past six seasons, the Orioles "medical roulette is a mistake."
If that's all it takes to become a doctor, sign me up.
Gallardo just got placed on the 15-day disabled list due to right shoulder tendinitis, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com, and now we can all confirm that Heyman is indeed an MLB reporter, not a doctor who needs to criticize ball clubs for having an issue with a player's shoulder before they give him millions of dollars to throw 85 miles per hour.
